Your indoor air quality is very important. Poor indoor air quality can have many negative health affects. Some health problems associated with poor air quality are fatigue, sinus problems and headaches.
Mold needs three things to grow, a surface, moister, and food. If there is a leak in your home it can start to grow mold in less than 48 hours.
If there is suspected organic growth the inspector can take 3 types of sampling. An air quality sample, surface sample or bulk sample can be collected for further evaluation.
Air quality samples- This type of sample involves using a vacuum pump that takes a sample of air through a collection device. There is always a air sample done inside and outside for comparison. These samples are then sent to a lab for evaluation.
Surface samples- This type of sample will be taken with a swab, which is sent to a lab for evaluation.
Bulk samples- This type of sample will be taken from a bulk item such as piece of wood or drywall and sent to a lab for evaluation.
